My Approach

I offer a compassionate non-judgmental space where you can freely discuss difficulties in your life.  I believe laughter is healing and has a place in that space, too.

My aim is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and then use these insights to make the changes you want to see in yourself or your relationships.  I will support you by focusing on your strengths, recognizing you as the expert on your own life, and providing trauma-responsive care.

I take an integrative approach to my practice.  This means I make use of a selection of evidence-based approaches to therapy so I can tailor our work together to your unique individual needs.  Some therapeutic approaches I draw from include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

As a member of the National Association of Social Work (NASW), I adhere to the NASW’s ethical framework in my work.

I warmly welcome individuals from all walks of life including cultural background, spiritual practice, race, gender identities, abilities, and sexuality.

My primary areas of focus are...

connection, clarity, and closure in relationships,

anxiety and depression,

adapting to changes in life (life transitions),

grief counseling for loss of a loved one

pet loss – grief counseling for loss of a pet or animal

self-esteem and confidence building, and

trauma and post-traumatic growth.

If I have not mentioned something that is troubling you, please give me a call, use the initial free consultation form, or the contact form to reach out so that we can discuss your needs.

Areas I Serve

I am based out of Cedar Falls, Iowa and provide individual therapy to Iowans anywhere from across town to across the state.

I have a special focus on Cedar Falls, Waterloo, and surrounding towns; Black Hawk and surrounding counties; northeast Iowa; and east central Iowa.  However, as long as you are an Iowa resident and physically located within Iowa’s borders at the time of your appointments, I can serve you.

I connect with my clients online with an easy-to-use (truly!) HIPAA-secure teletherapy website or by phone.

Please note, you must be an Iowa resident and physically located in Iowa at the time of each of our teletherapy (remote) appointments for me to be able to serve you. I am not providing in-office appointments at this time.
