Next Steps

I get it. You are looking for a therapist that is a good fit for your personality and needs. You want to feel comfortable with your choice. After all, therapy is as much about the relationship as it is about technique.

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation so we have the chance to get to know one another a little bit and answer any questions you may have. I will send you a consent form to sign before our consultation. If we decide we are a good fit for working together, I will send you the remainder of the intake forms to complete before our first appointment. An initial consultation usually takes 15-20 minutes.

What Happens at the First Therapy Appointment?

Once we schedule a time for your first appointment, I will email you the necessary paperwork through my easy-to-use, secure client portal. You will fill these form out before your first appointment. If at any time you would prefer to receive this or other paperwork by regular mail, I am happy to do so.

During the initial/intake appointment, we will review the intake paperwork you completed ahead of time and I will answer any questions about it you may have. I will do a thorough assessment of your situation; we’ll discuss what you’d like to get out of therapy; and review your strengths and needs. Plan to set aside 60-90 minutes for this appointment.

Meeting Schedule/Appointment Frequency

Moving forward, therapy appointments will typically last 45-50 minutes. At the beginning of our work together, sessions may be weekly but that will be determined by your personal circumstances. As our work progresses, appointments will be spaced further apart so you have more time between to practice and apply the changes you are making.
